Grant Writing & Funding Strategy For many charities, COVID fundamentally changed the way we look at fundraising. The buzzword became “resilience,” and grants emerged to help organizations rebuild, adapt, and strengthen their operations. For many, this was (and still is) a powerful opportunity — not just to access funding, but to use that funding to create a more sustainable structure for the future. The challenge is that grant writing takes time and expertise, and not every fundraiser has the capacity to take it on — especially while juggling events, donor stewardship, campaigns, and everything else that keeps an organization moving. Over the past 25 years, my success has depended on a few key things: knowing the mission inside and out, being clear on the objectives, researching funders with strong alignment, and doing the homework to ensure the match is ideal. It’s about trust, shared goals, and making sure funders can clearly see the impact their investment will create.
